| We
are experienced in the
design, installation
and administration of key open source software, such as the following: |
|
|
|
 |
|
Samba
is an open-source implementation of Microsoft's SMB/CIFS protocol
created by Andrew Tridgell for
file and printer sharing. Samba lets Linux computer function as Windows
NT or 2003 file servers, offering better performance and stability at
almost zero software cost.

| Sendmail
is an open source electronic mail transfer agent that can be used to
send or receive e-mail messages. Sendmail is a remarkably flexible
program, supporting many kinds of mail transfer and delivery including
the overwhelmingly popular SMTP. Sendmail is regarded as the standard
MTA under most variants of the Linux/Unix operating system. According
to one study, as of November 2001 approximately 42% of the publicly
reachable mail servers on the Internet were running sendmail on some
form of Linux/Unix system. |

MailScanner
is already a highly respected open source e-mail security system, with
more users than AOL and Hotmail combined. MailScanner scans all e-mail
for viruses, spam and attacks against
security vulnerabilities. It is not tied to any particular virus
scanner, but can be used with any combination of 14 different virus
scanners.
Being open source, site administrators can audit and verify the
integrity of the system. Its role is a major part in the security of a
network, and so it must act as a trusted service. The only way to
achieve the required level of trust is to be open source, an approach
the commercial suppliers are not willing to take. MailScanner has been
developed in a world-leading Electronics and Computer Science
Department at the University of Southampton, and is distributed for
*FREE* under the GNU Public License. It processes 500 million
e-mail messages every day, removing 2 million viruses and identifying
75 million spam messages. MailScanner is used at 20,000 sites around
the world protecting top government departments, commercial
corporations and educational institutions. It is becoming a standard
feature of many ISP's as virus protection and spam filtering are now
essential requirements for most users. |
|
|
| SpamAssassin
is an extensible email filter that is used to identify spam. Once
identified, the mail can then be optionally tagged as spam for later
filtering. SpamAssassin uses a wide variety of local and network tests
to identify spam signatures. This makes it harder for spammers to
identify one aspect which they can craft their messages to work around.
It is distributed under the same terms and conditions as other popular
open-source software packages such as the Apache web server. |

The
Shoreline Firewall, more commonly known
as “Shorewall”, is high-level tool for configuring
Netfilter. You describe your firewall/gateway requirements using
entries in a set of configuration files. Shorewall reads those
configuration files and with the help of the iptables utility,
Shorewall configures Netfilter to match your requirements. Shorewall
can be used on a dedicated firewall system, a multi-function
gateway/router/server or on a standalone GNU/Linux system. Shorewall
does not use Netfilter's ipchains compatibility mode and can thus take
advantage of Netfilter's connection state tracking capabilities. |

| Squid
proxy cache is used to cache static
web pages (html and images) to a Linux server on the local network.
When the page is requested a second time, the browser returns the data
from the local proxy instead of the origin web server, thus improving
internet bandwidth savings. The internet browser is explicitly
configured to direct all HTTP requests to the proxy cache, rather than
the target web server. Squid proxy caching server provides Internet
access control and comes with a cache analysis report generator which
allows you to view "where" your users are going to on the
Internet by providing many informations about users
activities: times, bytes, sites, etc... |

Poptop
is the PPTP server solution for
Linux. PPTP stands for Point to Point Tunneling Protocol and is used
for establishing VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnels across the
Internet. This allows remote users to securely and inexpensively access
their corporate network from anywhere on the Internet. |

|
| Clam
AntiVirus is an ant-ivirus toolkit for
Linux. It provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a fast
command line scanner and an advance update tool for automatic virus
database updating via internet. Clam AV detects over 30000 Viruses,
Worms and Trojans including macro viruses. |

OpenOffice.org
is a free productivity
suite compatible with all major office suites. OpenOffice.org gives you
everything you'd expect in office software. You can create dynamic
documents, analyse data, design eye-catching presentations, produce
dramatic illustrations, and open up your databases. You can publish
your work in Portable Document Format (.pdf), and release your graphics
in Flash (.swf) format - without needing any additional software. If
you're used to using other office suites - such as Microsoft Office
- you'll be completely at home with OpenOffice.org. However, as you
become used to OpenOffice.org, you'll start to appreciate the extras
that make your life easier. You can of course continue to use your old
Microsoft Office files without any problems - and if you need to
exchange files with people still using Microsoft Office, that's no
problem either. |

The
Apache httpd server is a powerful,
flexible, HTTP/1.1 compliant web server. It is highly configurable and
extensible with many third-party modules. Apache has been shown to be
substantially faster, more stable, and more feature-full than many
other web servers. Apache is run on sites that get millions of hits per
day, and they have experienced no performance difficulties. It is
distributed with full source code and comes with an
unrestrictive
license. |
